Being a shallow bottom slough that dries up to a mud flat during the summer month allowing for natural grasses to germinate. Then in winter months backwater fills the slough when the bayou backs up. The slough is bordered with willows and buck brush creating hunting opportunities for all wind directions. Typically, the slough floods knee to waist deep and is perfect for wading and easy decoy setups. is a classic mid-morning mallard hole catching those transitioning birds moving from large roost and feed locations.
